This research aims to directly observe and understand the various determinants that lead Generation Z students to choose Islamic boarding schools as their residence. The specific Islamic boarding school under investigation is Pondok Pesantren Miftahul Khoir Dago Bandung. Furthermore, Generation Z students residing in the boarding school are referred to as "santri" or "mahasantri". This study employs a quantitative descriptive approach, with preliminary observation as the introductory study. The primary data collection method involves distributing questionnaires, which have been validated, while the data analysis techniques include path analysis and regression using SPSS 21.0 software. Additionally, supporting data are gathered through documentation and literature review. The subjects of this study consist of all first-year male and female santri, totaling 42 individuals, with 26 male and 16 female santri. Based on the data analysis results, it is indicated that the determinants for Generation Z students choosing to reside in boarding schools are influenced by motivational factors, which include both internal and external motivations. The internal motivation, based on personal decision-making, accounts for 78.32%, while the external motivation, influenced by parental encouragement, accounts for 75.67%. Additionally, the necessity factor shows an average percentage of 79.92%, encompassing physiological needs, safety needs, social needs, self-esteem needs, and self-actualization needs. Therefore, this research is categorized as yielding highly satisfactory results, indicating that the outcomes are positively significant for Generation Z students who choose to reside in Islamic boarding schools.
