The research subjects consisted of 32 seventh grade learners in a public junior high school in Tasikmalaya City. The research instruments included tests to identify learners' difficulties and in-depth interviews with some learners to gain further insight into the factors causing difficulties. The results showed that most of the students had difficulties in understanding the basic concepts of three-dimensional geometry, especially in applying the formula for the area of cones and pipes. Common difficulties found included an inability to recognize the elements of cones and tubes, difficulty substituting values in the formula, and obstacles in basic algebra that affect the final calculation results. Further analysis revealed that factors contributing to these difficulties included a lack of visualization skills and spatial understanding. Discussion of the results highlighted the importance of a more interactive and contextualized approach to learning, including the use of visual aids and manipulatives to help students visualize three-dimensional shapes and better understand the concept of surface area. The implications of this study include improving the curriculum and teaching strategies for mathematics at the junior secondary level, with a focus on developing learners' visualization skills and spatial understanding.

Zihan Marcela Hapsari Dedi Muhtadi Sukirwan Copyright (c) 2024 2024-07-28 2024-07-28 9 2 55 67 10.30999/ujmes.v9i2.3203 PENGEMBANGAN LEMBAR KERJA PESERTA DIDIK BERDIFERENSIASI EKSTOVERT DAN INTROVERT BERBASIS PROYEK http://ojs.uninus.ac.id/index.php/UJMES/article/view/3195
In mathematics learning at school, there are not many teaching materials that can support the learning process according to the needs of each student. One solution that can help students learn according to their needs is to use differentiated Student Worksheets (LKPD). The aim of this research is to produce a product in the form of a differentiated LKPD in terms of extrovert and introvert personalities using a project-based learning model on flat-sided building material for junior high school students. This type of research is Research and Development (RnD) with a 4D development model by Thiagarajan, which goes through 4 stages: Definition, Design, Development, and Dissemination. The subjects of this research were students in class VIII H of SMPN 5 Purwokerto. The instruments used are questionnaires to measure validity criteria and response questionnaires. The results of the research show that the differentiation LKPD in terms of extrovert and introvert personalities using a project-based learning model on flat-sided building material for junior high school students has met the very valid criteria with an average score of 3.63. Apart from that, this LKPD also received a very practical category with an average score of 3.13. These results indicate that this development product is suitable for use in the learning process.
Mezayu Maura Sejati Anton Jaelani Copyright (c) 2024 2024-11-28 2024-11-28 9 2 68 82 10.30999/ujmes.v9i2.3195 PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN LITERASI MATEMATIS SISWA MELALUI PENDEKATAN REALISTIC MATHEMATICS EDUCATION (RME) http://ojs.uninus.ac.id/index.php/UJMES/article/view/2680
This study was motivated by the low mathematical literacy ability in mathematics learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the average improvement of students' mathematical literacy skills. The research method used quasi experimental with non-equivalent control group research design. The population in this study were all students at SMPN 51 Bandung grade VIII even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The samples in this study were class VIII.1 as the experimental class and class VIII.2 as the control class. In the experimental class learning using realistic mathematics education (RME) approach, while in the control class using deductive approach. The data collection technique used was a test. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the average increase in students' mathematical literacy skills in learning flat-sided space building using the realistic mathematics education (RME) approach is in the high category has a significant difference compared to using the deductive approach in the medium category. It is recommended that research be carried out using more varied methods and media so that the results obtained are more optimal.
Fina Eftiana Copyright (c) 2024 UJMES (Uninus Journal of Mathematics Education and Science) 2024-11-28 2024-11-28 9 2 83 92 10.30999/ujmes.v9i2.2680 KEEFEKTIFAN MODUL AJAR INVERS MATRIKS BERBASIS PROJECT-BASED LEARNING TERKAIT KEMAMPUAN KONEKSI MATEMATIS MAHASISWA http://ojs.uninus.ac.id/index.php/UJMES/article/view/2589
This research is motivated by the lack of teaching materials that meet the needs of curriculum development and the limited mathematical connection abilities of students in the topic of matrix inversion, as well as the ineffectiveness of available teaching materials. This research is a descriptive qualitative study that aims to present the profile of the mathematical problem-solving abilities of high-achieving mathematics students at the MTs (Islamic Junior High School) level in the topic of Arithmetic Sequences and Series. The subjects of this study were two high-achieving mathematics students from the eighth grade at MTs during the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The selection of subjects was based on assessment results from the previous semester. The data collection techniques used in this study were written tests, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique employed was interpretive analysis. The data analysis was based on Polya's problem-solving process framework. The research findings revealed that high-achieving mathematics students met the problem-solving process through the phases of understanding the problem, devising a plan, and carrying out the plan. However, high-achieving students did not fully meet the problem-solving process through the looking back phase. Therefore, special attention is needed to guide students to become accustomed to revisiting and checking their solutions when solving mathematical problems.
Muhammad Ari Subhi Ade Eky Setiaji Copyright (c) 2023 UJMES (Uninus Journal of Mathematics Education and Science) 2024-11-28 2024-11-28 9 2 128 135 10.30999/ujmes.v9i2.2617
