PENGEMBANGAN BAHAN AJAR MATEMATIKA MATERI STATISTIKA DENGAN MODEL PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN KOMUNIKASI MATEMATIK SISWA SMA

Abstract


This research is motivated by the lack of students’ math communication skill. Thereby, it needs development of teaching materials that can improve students’ math communication skill.The approach of this research uses qualitative and quantitative approach, while the method is the research and development (Research & Development, R & D) and Dick’s & Carey’s experimental research design. Sample is selected from class XI IPS 1 of one Senior High School in Bandung regency. Data collection techniques that used in this research are preliminary study, observation, questionnaire and test. While the instruments that used are the validation sheets, observation sheets, mathematical communication ability test and questionnaire. Based on the data can be concluded that the teaching materials which are developed appropriate with the standards of the Education Unit Level Curriculum (SBC) and the materials’ presentation appropriate with the problem-based learning model. Development of teaching materials is noticed, the problems faced by students, competency to be achieved, the phases of problem-based learning model, indicator of  math communication skill, teaching materials are packed in the textbook with an array of teaching materials consisting of the first section, content and the final section. While the steps for compiling are analyzing the curriculum, determining the book's title, designing outline, collecting reference, paying attention to the presentation of the sentences, evaluating, editing and improving the writing becomes attractive. Meanwhile, processing and analysis of the results of tests show that the math communication skill through mathematics’ teaching material of statistical with problem-based learning model, there is improvement of math communication skill in a lower classification. While in general, students’ responses are positive to the mathematics’ teaching material of statistical with problem-based learning model.
