Abstract

PT. Smart Teknik Utama Bandung is a company engaged in the manufacturing sector. This company produces parts of the railroad, especially the product that is superior is the rodding system points. PT. Samart Teknik Utama Bandung still has many shortcomings, especially in quality control, which is still quite a lot of production from each period. So the purpose of this study is to minimize production failures with several methods in order to get the source of the causes of production failures that occur. In this case study, we will discuss the use of the Statistical Quality Control (SQC) method to see the priority of failing product improvements and use a cause diagram (fishbone diagram) to find the root of the problem that will be used as a basis for improvement in the process.. Data taken at PT. Smart Teknik Utama Bandung Main Technique, namely the criteria for the type of defect, the number of production and the number of defective products in the period April 2018 to March 2020, using a cause and effect diagram, it can be seen that there is a factor that greatly affects the occurrence of defects, namely the material factor. There are several suggestions for improvements that can be made by the company, including checking the material before the production process is carried out, determining good material specifications for rodding system point products and providing additional operators in the cutting section.
